Curated by Geoff Newton Opening Celebration: Thursday 10 May, 6 – 8pm Exhibtion dates: 11 May to 9 June, 2012 Test Pattern brings together painting and video to provide an overview of the influence of found abstraction in Australian contemporary practice. Many of the works in the exhibition are made at the turn of the century; a time when Painting was in flux and in need of revision. Artists were painting directly on the walls and making videos about making paintings, riffing on notions of appropriation, originality and impermanence, with a few nods to Art History and a few thumbed noses to the critical mass. National Exhibitions Touring Support (NETS) Victoria is currently working with Geoff Newton to develop a national tour of Test Pattern in 2013-14. Death be Kind in Melbourne (where I exhibited last year),  is nearly over. Their last exhibition opens Tuesday night next week, called The Rest is Silence. 

For this last show they have  invited artists to contribute work with skulls in them; this is my skull work.

They have also made a blog for the final show, with images of art containing references to the skull.
